Experiential Learning at PIPAS : How You Will Learn
Learn by Experiencing, Not Just Studying
At PIPAS, learning goes beyond textbooks and classrooms. An enjoyable and creative atmosphere supports experiential learning, with a strong focus on out-of-the-classroom study. The course is designed to help students learn by doing, encouraging active participation, reflection, and real-world engagement rather than passive study.
An Integrative & Holistic Approach
The core model of the course is integrative and holistic. It emphasizes the integration of thinking, feeling, and behaviour, along with awareness of the social and cultural contexts in which counselling is practiced. This approach prepares students to respond meaningfully to real, ground-level counselling situations.
From Theory to Personal Counselling Style
While students are grounded in counselling theory, equal importance is given to developing an individual counselling style. The therapeutic relationship and client empowerment are viewed as central to meaningful therapeutic change, and students are encouraged to grow within the core integrative model while finding their own professional voice.
Learning as a Counsellor and as a Client
Throughout the course, students experience counselling from both perspectives — as a counsellor and as a client. They are introduced to counselling skills and gain expertise in career development theories, counselling techniques, assessment administration and interpretation, and career information resources. With extensive practical placements, students graduate as well-equipped professionals, earning a certificate in career counselling.
Professional Practice–Focused Training
During the training period, students learn from multiple tutors, all of whom are qualified and practicing counsellors using diverse therapeutic approaches. Teaching is experiential, creative, challenging, and interactive. Professional practice is treated as a core pillar of training, with strong emphasis on self-responsibility, reflective learning, and meeting professional coursework standards—laying the foundation for future success as counsellors.
